AcoustiPad™ for Indoor Sports Facilities

Pres Release - AcoustiPad™ for Indoor Sports Facilities

Deland, FL – As indoor sports facilities continue to grow, managing sound has become an increasingly important part of facility design.  Putterman Athletics’ AcoustiPad™ Safety Padding helps facilities address that challenge by combining impact protection with sound absorption, and feedback from builders, facility operators, and players shows the difference improved acoustics can make in active indoor environments.

AcoustiPad™ was developed specifically for loud, reverberant athletic spaces where traditional wall padding provides impact protection but does little to control sound.  The patent-pending system features a 2-inch high-density foam core wrapped in a durable, synthetic open-mesh fabric that allows sound to dissipate rather than reflect into the facility.  Independent testing shows AcoustiPad can reduce echo by more than 98%, improving communication and creating a more comfortable environment for athletes, coaches, staff, and spectators.

The product has already been installed in indoor sports facilities, including pickleball venues where repetitive ball impact and multiple courts operating at the same time can create significant acoustic challenges.  At Let’s Go Pickleball in Peachtree City, Georgia, General Manager Chase Mason noted the importance of addressing sound as part of the overall facility design.

“When designing our facility, sound abatement was just as important as surface quality, lighting, and fencing.  AcoustiPad makes all the difference,” said Mason.  “It softens the sharp echoes of play, creating a more enjoyable and professional experience for everyone.”

The response from facilities reflects a broader shift in how indoor athletic spaces are being designed.  Noise can affect player communication, spectator comfort, employee experience, and a facility’s overall usability.  By incorporating acoustic treatment directly into safety padding, AcoustiPad allows facilities to address both player protection and sound management with a single system.  The product is designed for pickleball, tennis, basketball, volleyball, and other indoor or covered sports environments.

“We knew indoor noise was becoming a bigger concern for facility owners, but the feedback we are receiving after installation really demonstrates the impact acoustics can have on the overall experience,” said Randy Futty, Executive Vice President of Business Development at Putterman Athletics.  “AcoustiPad gives facilities a way to address noise without sacrificing the safety padding they already need.  Hearing directly from operators, builders, and players about how much better their spaces sound reinforces why we developed the product.”

Putterman is also working with sports facility builders as they consider acoustics earlier in the planning process.  Shaughnessy Sports Construction has installed AcoustiPad at several indoor pickleball facilities, and said, “We’re always looking for products that are simple to install and make the finished facility better.  AcoustiPad does both,” said Bill Shaughnessy, President of Shaughnessy Sports Construction.  “AcoustiPad gives the walls a clean, professional finish, adds the safety padding you need, and helps take some of that sharp echo out of the building.”

Players are noticing the difference, too.  Let’s Go Pickleball member Bob Dixon shared that the facility is noticeably quieter than other indoor venues he has played in, even those with far fewer courts.  “I’ve been impressed!  You can hear the difference when your opponent calls the score, and you can clearly hear what they’ve called.  It’s a great product!”

AcoustiPad won the 2025 ASBA Game Changer Award in the Courts Division from the American Sports Builders Association and is USA Pickleball Quiet Approved.  The system is available in custom sizes and imprinting, with 15 standard colors available to complement facility design and branding.

As more indoor athletic and pickleball facilities open across the country, Putterman Athletics continues to work with facility owners, builders, and operators to address the acoustic challenges of active indoor play and create safer, quieter, more comfortable environments.  To discuss an upcoming project, contact Putterman at puttermanathletics.com
